Hey Folks! I apologize for the blog being inactive for sooo long. My blog hosting company, blog.com has been transferring all accounts to Wordpress and it has been a headache! I still cannot make my blog look the way I had it and can get no human help at all. I am just hoping they iron it all out soon and I do not have to start from scratch. Thanks for bearing with me. Check back every few days and hopefully we will be up and running again soon!!

    Hello Pastor Mike,

While searching the internet today in an attempt to learn the type of cancer Pastor Adrian Rogers had, I found your blog. I read your struggles with chemo and I am wondering what was the outcome of your treatment? You were having difficulty with your white count being low at one point. In 1991, I had non-hodgins lymphoma and took extensive chemo and can remember how even during the mmnth of August when the tempertures outside were in the high 90’s as quickly as the liquid from the chemo started dripping down the tube and into my body I began to chill. My body temperature quickly feel from high to very low and I remember how cold and uncomfortable I felt. I am blessed that my white count always stayed high and only on two occassions did I have to wait about an hour while the nurses adjusted my chemo treatment(so my body could tolerate it). Prior to starting chemo, my pastor gave me the name of a doctor friend of his in another state who could give me some valuable advice. When I called the doctor I expected him to give me 5 minutes of his time, but instead he spoke with me for two hours. He said if I decided to take the chemo I needed to know the chemo not only attacks the cancer cells but the healthy cells as well. That I would become so sick I would not be able to eat properly and my white count would fall. So I needed to go to the health food store (didn’t know they existed) and purchase the following items: beef liver (large pill) rich in protein, beta carotene & selenium (anti-oxidants) fights cancer, vitamins A, C, D, & E, and genseng (for energy). I did what he advised and took the last money I had to purchase these items. I wanted desperately to live to raise my son who was only 7 years old for the Lord. I began taking these pills and a dear friend I had worked with when she learned I bought these items asked how much they cost and I explained $99. She said, “Oh Carol, I am afraid you threw your money away”. I replied, “If I am dead, I won’t need that hundred dollars.” On two occassion, I was so tired of taking all of the medications the doctors gave me to take at home that the week I did not have to take their medication I skiped the above items as well. On both of these occassions that is when my white count dropped significantly and I had to wait while they adjusted my treatment. During my treatments I stayed strong and was able to play baseball and ride my bike with my son. I lost all of my hair but my color stayed great and when I went in for treatments the patients would look at me like “What are you here for, go away, we are sick.” I was as sick as they were, but I didn’t feel it. God totally healed me and I thank him I lived to raise my son who is now 26. God bless you, I appreciate your testimony.

Carol, I am now cancer-free and have been since 2006. Just this summer I was released from oncology care, checkups, and the like. When my white-cell count was low due to chemotherapy I took shots of a medicine they called a “blood-booster” that stimulated white-cell count. It worked and my treatment schedule was not modified in any way. I praise the Lord for your great testimony and how God has healed you as well.
