Bible Studies for Life Sunday School Commentary - Week of February 3, 2008

The Motive     Luke 15:1-2,11-24

The three familiar parables in Luke 15 were told in response to accusations made by Jesus’ enemies. Jesus was found welcoming and fellowshipping with social outcasts. Sinners in every sense of the word. Despite the Pharisees’ complaints, these people felt free to associate with Jesus. His compassionate attitude is colorfully illustrated in the three parables he told. The Prodigal Son shows us what it really means to be lost in sin, and how Jesus loves sinners.

Bible Studies for Life Sunday School Commentary - Week of January 27, 2008

Breakthrough in Confidence     Psalm 23

This incredible psalm has brought comfort to millions for generations. Truths expressed in many other lesser-known psalms are encapsulated in this one poetic expression of God’s care. The three previous studies in this particular theme in the Bible Studies for Life curriculum are tied to this great psalm. God’s provision in Psalm 145, God’s restoration in Psalm 32, and God’s leadership in Psalm 7 all lead us to trust Him more confidently.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Well, we have been celebrating the holidays by being together at home and have had some great times. There will be no Sunday School commentaries through the month of January. I will be gone quite a bit, traveling and teaching VBS conferences for Lifeway Christian Resources at Ridgecrest, N.C., Glorieta, N.M., and at the Lifeway building in Nashville, TN. If you are attending any of the VBS Institutes or Preview Events at these locations in January drop by and let me know you read the blog. I would love to meet you!

The pictures below are from some of our Christmas and New Year activities.
